Suggest Medication For Prolonged ADD And ADHD

My name is Carter and i m 18 years old. My whole life I ve struggled with ADD and ADHD. I Was prescribed concerta when i was diagnosed and took it throughout most of my childhood. As I got older it started to affect me differently, mood swings, delusional thoughts, and many other side affects started happening. I stopped taking medication for ADD and ADHD when i was about 13 due to the side affects. After about 2 years of not taking it my dad got a prescription and instead of XR s they were IR s. i took one once and it felt totally different. It seemed to work much better. I m starting to work full time and I have alot of activities going on in my life and i need the medication again to help me focus and not fall of track. But i dont know if or how i can get a presciption of an Amphetamine/Dextro-Amphetamine mixture. Just looking for advice?

Hi,

There are many different medications used to treat ADHD, including stimulants (such as amphetamines and methylphenidate) and non-stimulants (such as atomoxetine). The choice of medication will depend on several factors, including the severity of the symptoms, other medical conditions, and potential side effects.

To obtain a prescription for ADHD medication, you will need to consult with a healthcare provider. This could be a primary care physician or a specialist in psychiatry or neurology. They will likely want to evaluate your symptoms and medical history, and may also use various assessment tools to help with diagnosis.

It is important to note that while medication can help manage symptoms of ADHD, it is not a cure and should be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment, such as therapy and lifestyle modifications. Your healthcare provider can work with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses all aspects of your condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
