Suggest Medication For Severe Congestion And Sneezing
I have a 2 yr old nephew and we have taken him to the dr many times for severe congestion, sneezing, doesn't sleep at all at night or while taking a nap. His dr gave him a nasal spray and an allergy medicine once a day.....any suggestions? havenot slept in days...
Sneezing and severe congestion in 2 year child are mostly due to viral infections of pharynx, sinus, larynx, epiglottis or nasal cavity etc.
Some times it could be due to bacterial infection also.
He may have some routine blood counts and sputum examination if there is cough with sputum to rule out infective pathology of lungs.
He will require antibiotics in syrup form (quinolones or macrolides) to prevent super infection and anti-inflammatory, antihistamines with other supportive treatment.
You can give him nasal spray and allergic medications available over the counter for symptomatic relief.Need not to worry about his sleep as the symptoms will start subsiding,he will be able to take a good sleep.
