Pregnancy can be terminated by medicines up to 9 weeks of pregnancy safely and effectively. Mifepristone and Misoprostol are the medicines used for this purpose. However, before using these medicines, please understand the following issues: 1.They are not over the counter medicines. They should be taken on advice of an Obstetrician only. 2. It is advisable to visit the Obstetrician after 7 days or as per necessity for follow up. 3. Alarming bleeding should be informed to the Obstetrician. 4. These medicines have very good success rate in bringing about termination of pregnancy. However, if these medicines fail to terminate the pregnancy, the pregnancy continuation is not advisable since these medicines may cause abnormalities in the baby. In case of failure, you should report to the Obstetrician. May be you will have to undergo surgical evacuation of the uterus in that case.
I hope you will report to the Obstetrician before taking these medicines.
