Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father who is 80 had a stroke about 5 years ago and is on different meds including blood pressure meds. Today his blood pressure (taken at home) was 192 over 84. Over the last two hours he has continue to take it and it is now at 156 over 77. Should he do anything right away to treat this?
Though this is not an ideal blood pressure, it does not require immediate aggressive action. I will recommend that you keep more records of his blood pressure measurements and take to his doctor for review. It may be necessary to change the doses of his medications or add some new ones depending on the goal of treatment defined by his doctor.
I hope this helps. I wish your dad well. Courage and keep up the good work.
