Hi,
Dengue fever is a viral fever, which presents with high grade fever along with pain in the joints. Back ache will be severe in early stages.
Platelets get affected commonly and thromobocytopenia is usually on of the characteristic feature. Patient can have bleeding manifestations and can go into complications, called as dengue shock syndrome.
No antiviral treatment is available and symptomatic treatment with NSAIDs painkillers, usually only paracetamol for pain is used.
Fluids are necessary along with platelet transfusion. Daily platelet evaluation is necessary.
No specific diet is prescribed and patient can take anything, he/she is comfortable with.
Hope this helps.
Any further query, happy to help again.
