Suggest Methods To Handle Social Anxiety

I think I might have social Anxiety, sometimes when people ask me to do things ie. go out with friends or even going somewhere cool my brain kind of focuses on all the bad things that could happen. Or I feel for some reason I can't, like someone won't let me even If I can. I get frustrated, an empty feeling, embarressed, nervous, and sometimes nausious.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

From the description of your symptoms it appears that you are having a Social Anxiety Disorder. You seem to be experiencing both psychological and physical symptoms of anxiety. Don't worry there are effective treatment options to help you overcome your problems. The predominant form of treatment is psychological therapy. There are effective psychological therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which can help you overcome your fear of social situations and your negative pattern of thinking. There are also several specific behavioural therapies, relaxation therapies, hypnotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, etc. which have also been proven to be helpful. So, I would suggest that you consult a psychiatrist in your place for further treatment.

You may also need professional help to work on your low self-esteem and the negative / self-reproachful thinking pattern which may be contributing a lot your social anxiety. So, counselling which is focussed on improving self esteem and learning new social skills can be very helpful in the long term.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
