Suggest Remedies For A Big Bump On The Upper Thigh Post An Injury

I tripped and fell about 2 hrs. ago on a cement sidewalk. I had a bruise on my left shoulder immediately and now have a big bump on my upper let thigh, I guess, below the hip but on a bone. Was about to soak in an epsom salt bath, but am wondering now if it would be better to put ice on the bump?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Within the first few hours of a trauma, cold compresses are preferred. At a later time, the day after, warm compresses may be used to help it heal fast. On the other hand, it is very important with bruises to not apply much pressure or traumatize the area (do not massage) as this may make the bleeding in the area worse.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
