Suggest Remedies For Pain Caused By Butterfly Stitches Post Nexplanon Contraceptive Implant

Hi, I recently got the nexplanon contraceptive implant and got butterfly stitches put on the small incision area with a low adherent pad and abandage. 3 days later, the bandage feel like its pulling on the stitches but I have checked and it seems fine. I have put the bandage back on but it s back to feeling the same as previously mentioned. What should I do?

Hi,

That is not a usual symptom from the implant. It is an indication for IMMEDIATELY having it looked at by whomever put it in. Infection deep under the skin could be serious and without symptoms on the surface.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
