Suggest Remedies For Painful Bumps At The Back Of The Tongue

Hello, I have these bumps on the back of my tounge, they have been there for about 2 years now. I assumed it was swollen circumvallate papilae but sometimes it hurts when I swallow saliva and my throat feels tight like it does now. I went to the doctor but he said it was nothing I even went to an ENT and he didn t even notice it although I never mentioned it to him at the time, I went for a sinus issue that I thought I had. Is there anything I can do to get rid of these it causes me to stay home instead of going out like I used to when I didn t have them because it hurts when I speak and people look at me weird when I try to. Please any help is useful.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms enlarged circumvallate papillae along with tightness in throat can be due to causes like :

1. It can be due to Upper Respiratory Tract Infection leading to sore throat, chest congestion and pain and swollen circumvallate papillae can be due to infection and can be bacterial or viral in nature..

2.If infection is not the cause other cause of he above symptoms can be due to Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease causing reflux of acid from stomach to throat and mouth..
It causes burning pain in chest, sore throat, throat and enlarged Circumvallate papillae..

3.Psst masal drip caused due to sinus infection..

For a proper treatment a confirmatory diagnosis is needed and you should consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and proper check-up and investigations can be done to confirm the cause and treatment can be planned accordingly.

If there is infection antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, warm saline gargles and steam inhalations can help..

If the symptoms are due to acid reflux Proton Pump Inhibitors like Pantoprazole, Omeprazole and antacids like Gelucil or Digene or any other available with your local pharmacist will be advised..
Avoiding acidic and spicy foods, drinking plenty of water, sleeping with head slightly raised as compared to legs, taking dinner atleast 2 to 3 hours before sleeping and taking a short walk before meals can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
