Suggest Remedies For Persistent Anemia Causing Fatigue, Headaches And Mood Swings
Hi I have had blood tests which show that I am anemic. I feel totally exhausted all of the time and suffer with chronic headaches all over my head from my neck across my eyes sometimes down my face. I have had the headaches for years but these are becoming more frequent. the pain is there everyday but when I get a sudden attack its chronic. I also have been taking sertraline for depression extreme low mood this has been increased to 100mg with no real effect. I cant cope with life anymore and work 5 days as a mental health nurse. My head is totally foggy and I feel spaced out all of the time and I cant concentrate or think. It really worrying me now. please can you advise.
I would also recommend checking vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels, coupled with thyroid hormone levels in order to exclude possible metabolic disorders, which can trigger this clinical situation.
Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist

Suggest Remedies For Persistent Anemia Causing Fatigue, Headaches And Mood Swings
Hello! Welcome to Ask a Doctor service! I passed carefully through your question and would explain that first it is important to treat anemia. In this regard, I would recommend taking iron, vitamin C, vitamin B12 and folic acid supplements. I would also recommend checking vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels, coupled with thyroid hormone levels in order to exclude possible metabolic disorders, which can trigger this clinical situation.
