Suggest Remedies For Severe Cough And Blocked Nose

I have had cold/flu for the past week now. It started off with sore throat, then I felt all week and tired and had a fever, then nose became all congested, and now I have a terrible cough. It seem to come in waves of symptoms I just have plugged up nose and a cough now, but my coughing is getting extremely annoying. Is this just a common cold? Is there anything I can do about my cough?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain the symptoms seems to be pointing towards upper respiratory tract infection and as the cough is terrible it might have progressed towards bronchitis that is inflammation of bronchioles and as they constrict there is severe coughing..
Nothing to worry as it will be resolved with medication but immediate medical assistance is required to prevent further spread like Pneumonia..
After a thorough clinical evaluation you will be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Cephalexin or Azithromycin, cough suppresants containing Dextromethorphan, phenylephrine and Guaifenesin, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
If there is mucous mucolytics like Bromohexine can be taken..
Take steroid nasal inhalation and saline nasal sprays..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Sip on plenty of warm water and do warm compresses over chest..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
