I smoke menthol cigarettes. Never had any issues but all of a sudden it s hard to clear my throat, im coughing, and the coughing burns my chest. What can I do to make it better? I am slowing way down on smoking because of this, but just wondering if any remedies will help?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Cigarette contains irritants that may give you symptoms like cough and burning sensation in chest. You may not need any special treatment to get over this. All you need is to limit smoking and if possible you stop it.Stopping it might be very difficult, however, you may do this progressively, that is, you reduce the number of sticks you take per day progressively so as not to have serious withdrawal effects.
I will also suggest you see a Pneumologist for evaluation and a chest x ray to eliminate other serious conditions that may be caused by smoking like chronic obstructive Bronchopneumopathy, cancer...
Hope this will help
Best regards
