Suggest Remedies For Severe Itching Sensation In The Right Arm

I am having itching real bad on my right arm and causing it to bleed. I have tried Benadryl, lotion, hydrocortisone cream, baking soda wrap, and Advil. I have put a call into the doctor with no answer yet. I have Atarax available. Please help before I go crazy

Hello,

I am sorry you are experiencing so much discomfort.
Taking any meds? Do you have eczema? Any insect bites?

Yes, go ahead and try Atarax since you have it. However, as both Atarax and Benadryl are antihistamines, if one doesn't help, it is unlikely that the other will either.

You can place your arm in warm water(not hot) for 3-5 minutes. Remove water and pat dry.

An over-the-counter medication not mentioned is Prax lotion or cream. Please read the labels of the available anti-itch meds.

Sometimes Prax or Pramagel is one of the ingredients in an anti-itch med that has a different main name.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
