Suggest Remedies For Severe Pain In Lower Back Post Knee Replacement

I have severe pain in my lower back. When recovery from a full knee replacement surgery, I became dehydrated and very near to my kidneys shutting down. Before and after this I ve suffered for some time with lower back pain so severe that I have to stop whatever I m doing and go to my bed where I can sit for awhile before I can get up and resume my activities, although the pain will return again and I must rest again and again before I can finish my chores.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a spine-related problem like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression.

As a first line management, you can take drugs like gabapentin for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
