Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr, I had a shoulder pain on the left side starting from April and pain on the right side starting from June this year. I received IA cortisone and physio on both shoulders, those treatment only bring temporary relief. I went for an Ultrasound check last week and it shows an early OA change at the Acrominoclavicular joints with tendinopathy (thickening, calcification) changes in the RS especially supraspinatus. My Orthopedic Surgeon recommend an operation. Do I really need an operation for that? Thanking you in advance.

Suggest Remedies For Shoulder Pain
Hello, I understand your concern. Your symptoms seem to be related to Acromioclavicular Osteoarthritis. This diagnosis can be treated temporary with painkillers such as Ibuprofen 400 mg. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and corticosteroid injections have shown to improve pain and function temporarily. I agree with your doctor that the only permanent treatment is operation. Take care Regards, Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
