Suggest Remedies For Sore, Red Throat And Swollen Tonsils Post An Antibiotic Treatment
I originally got a cold and it became a sinus infection. Had a sore throat as well. Been taking amoxicillin for 6 days now and most symptoms are gone except for the bad sore throat which seems to be coming from my right tonsil. It s slightly larger than my left tonsil and my throat is still red, but not as red as it was prior to the antibiotics. Do I need to try a stronger antibiotic? What would you recommend? I ve had success all the time with zpack/azythryvin in the past. This is the first time I ve been given amoxicillin and I don t think it s working on my tonsil.

Hi,
if your symptoms are improved a lot then there is no need to change the antibiotics. You should complete the course of Amoxil. Certain if the symptoms as you mentioned may take few more days.
However, if you spike a fever, then it's time to be rechecked and take more antibiotics. It's best to take a culture before the next antibiotics.
