Suggest Remedies For Swelling And Pus In My Tongue

I am a 26 year old female. My tongue started swelling about 2 days ago (shortly after arriving in a new city), it is now very swollen and painful. As far as I know I do not have any allergies, and I have taken some antihistamines but they do not seem to help. I do have a tongue piercing, but I got it over 5 years ago and never had problems with it before. I swapped the jewelry for a larger size last night to reduce the pressure, and some pus came out. I have been taking Advil to reduce the pain but it has not helped the swelling. What can I do?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling over tongue along with pus discharge is an indication of infection and there is a possibility that there is an infection at the site of tongue piercing leading to the symptoms that you are experiencing..
I would suggest you to first of all remove the tongue ring/stud that you are wearing and immediately consult a general physician..
In case if there is infection he can advise you antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers and also steroids..
Injectable antibiotics and steroids can also be given to reduce swelling and infection..
You can also be advised to clean the tongue piercing site with an antiseptic solution like betadine and apply antibiotic ointment over it..
Antimicrobial mouthwash gargles can also help..
