Suggest Remedies For Swelling In Face And Clogged Up Sinuses

Can't figure out if I have a cold or really bad allergies. In So. Cal where the temps have soared and the wind blowing. My sinuses clogged up so bad last night I could barely breathe or sleep. This morning did a nasal saline wash, feel better, put ice pack on my face to bring down the swelling. How can I tell the difference and when should I know to visit my local doctor if it's bacterial?

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Sinus infection causing Sinusitis and it is mostly bacterial in nature..
The symptoms of clogged sinuses, and difficulty in breathing seems consistent with Sinusitis..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you investigations like PNS VIEW x rays to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be planned..
If Sinusitis is confirmed as diagnosis he can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin, Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen, decongestant Oral and nasal like Phenylephrine, steam inhalation, and using a humidifier in your room..
Saline nasal irrigation and warm compresses around nose can also help.
