Suggest Remedies For Upper Right Abdominal Pain With Nausea
I am having upper right abdominal pain. I have nausea with it. I thought it was a gastro bug but everything I have one at home has not worked. It seems to get much worse at night and the pain radiates to my shoulder and back. I am trying to find out if I need to go to my PCP, or if this is an ER visit.
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
From your history, it goes more in favour of an attack of cholecystitis (infection of the gall bladder|), the pain being referred to the shoulder region. I would rather advise you to report to the ER of a hospital nearby, so that along with a general physical examination, related investigations like an ultrasound could also be done at the same instant for confirming or excluding this diagnosis. Till then, I would advise you to go for an anti emetic, a proton pump inhibitor, and an anti spasmodic drug, and to avoid oily and fatty food.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
