Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Chances of becoming pregnant while having
irregular periods is less likely. This is because, the timing of ovulation becomes highly unpredictable and the preparedness of uterus to receive the fertilized ovum for
implantation might not be satisfactory.
Folic acid is only a vitamin tablet, which would help to overcome
anaemia, which could have been caused due to heavy blood loss during periods. It does not actively contribute to regularize the periods.
One of the common causes for irregular periods is
polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD), which is treatable and could improve the chances of becoming pregnant. It needs to be evaluated by means of certain tests and the periods and ovulation can be regulated by means of medications.
Kindly consult Gynaecologist for appropriate evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
