Suggest Remedies To Eliminate Foreign Body Lodged Deep In The Airway

I inhaled a piece of waterchestnut on Friday night. Despite a visit to A&E and ENT departments, I still feel there is something lodged in my airway. (I felt it lodging but I have not felt it come out) Endoscopy showed no foreign body around the epiglottal area. Could it be lodged lower down in the airway?I have had two sleepless nights due to severe coughing bouts

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to inflammation due to the foreign object.

If endoscopy did not show the presence of a foreign object you should not be worried.

The symptoms can be related to the inflammation of the airways.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I also recommend using mucolytics for a cough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
