Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
I think you should immediately stop drinking and have a stool routine examination done coupled with obt. Lower back pain may be due to numerous reasons including urogenital infection, spinal abnormalities, colonic pathology, anxiety disorder,
mechanical back pain etc.
A detailed history is needed also along with clinical examination.
If you are having bright red blood in stool, it may be due to hemorrhoid or
diverticular disease or
inflammatory bowel disease or gi infection. The later three may be associated with back pain.
If the blood is dark or altered ,
peptic ulcer disease must be ruled out, particularly because you have become alcoholic.
You should consult a specialist in internal medicine at the earliest for further evaluation.
You may also need to have the following tests done-
Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, electrolytes
Urine for routine examination
Stool for routine examination and OBT.
Xray LS Spine- ap/lat view
USG lower abdomen
You should have plenty of oral fluid for the time being.
You may also try relaxation session every day to beat stress.
Please also avoid prolonged sitting to avoid worsening of back pain.
For any further questions, please write back.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushik
