Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having upper back pain radiating into my left shoulder at times like a pinching pain. I have already been to the ER and they have ruled out a heart attack, yet I am having a fast racing heart at times up to 130 bpm it gas gotten up to 155 at it's worse. Just to do some light cooking and going to the bathroom it goes up to 100-115. They did not do any imaging on my back while I was in the hospital.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
The symptoms that you are having are likely to be due to a nerve root compression at the level of upper spine. You need to get an MRI scan of the area done and consult a neurophysician for proper diagnosis and treatment. The following measures will help with the pain • Lie on a hard bed. • Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required ( do not repeat a dose before 6 hours) with food will help relieve the pain. • Avoid forward bending. • Correct your posture while sitting • Avoid prolonged sitting • Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
