Suggest Remedy For Bleeding Ulcer In Abdomen

I just got out of the hospital - had a bleeding ulcer (apparently deep). They did an endoscopy and cauterized (sp). End result was that the bacteria was found for which strong antibiotics were prescribed. Today, my first bowel movement since my hospitalization, was black, then dark brown, then black again. I am scheduled for another endoscopy in two weeks. Should I be concerned and go back to the hospital?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for trusting HealthCareMagic!

I'm Dr. Elton Halili and I'm answering about your concern:

- You said your doctor prescribed strong antibiotics. Do you take Ranitidine or Omeprazole? If not talk with your doctor about that.

- Changes in color of stools show activity of bleeding ulcer, so you should go to hospital, and do your scheduled endoscopy.
I find this answer helpful
