Suggest Remedy For Bruised Feeling In Perineum Post Stitches
I have recently had a baby and had stitches in my pereneum, however you spell it, as the same as a lot if women im sure it took me a while to open my bowels. Recently when I have been there has been a pain after for a few mins almost like a bruised feeling, is this piles?
I suffered the same after my baby was delivered. It's painful when you pass stools and there may be pile mass if you had it during last months of pregnancy. But most often it's due to anal fissure or the perineal stitches that cause pain. The best remedy is as follows 1) Add more fiber to your diet such that there is no straining at stools. 2) Drink more water 3) Any laxative like Dulcolax or Looz would help if you take an hour before sleep at night. 4) Sitz bath meaning sitting in a tub with warm water and few drops of Betadine. 5) Keep the sutures dry. It may take 3-4 days for the pain to reduce but the above measures really work.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
