I had an earlobe repair for a torn piercing. Sutures were left in, leading to a second operation. Now, I have a red bump on the earlobe. One doctor feels its a keloid. Another feels its a cyst. How should I approach? Cortisone shots or an operation to remove the bump? I'm scared of the operation, as this earlobe is already smaller than the other. Thanks!
Keloid and cysts are very easily differentiated. Keloid is hard and does not pain, the cyst is not solid. I think you can try getting it removed, and send for HPE if the doctor is not sure of the diagnosis.
If it turns out to be keloid you can take steroid injection over the scar after the surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
