Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a bladder infection for going on five days now, and I haven t been to the doctor yet. I ve been drinking lots of water and drinking cranberry juice to try to get rid of it myself before having to take and pills for it. It hasn t went away yet so I m wondering how long it takes to get rid of without taking the prescription or should I just go to the doctor? And how long does a bladder infection take to turn into a kidney infection? I don t want to end up hurting myself for trying to make myself better without taking antibiotics..

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Bladder problem can be a due to infection, irritation of bladder. mucus membrane like that due to bladder stones. It can be due irritation or infection in urethra. It needs to be found by investigations, burning in urination due to lack of proper hydration or exposure to strong sunlight. It can be controlled by good hydration and home care within few days. Few investigations would clear the picture and you would be given specific medication. Please consult a physician or a urologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
