Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My great nephew was diagnosed a few weeks ago with 2 viruses. He is 3 months old. He came to see me yesterday. Daycare told my niece that he had trouble eating because he has a bad cough. He definitely is congested in his chest. She said he is still the same today. He s not running a fever but is there a risk for pneumonia? They didn t prescribe any meds. I M worried.
If congestion is not treated properly, complications like pneumonia may occur. For this reason, I recommend using aerosols to help improve his congestion. If the cough persists with fever, starting antibiotics may be needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
