Hi and thank you for choosing HCM to post your question. I read carefully your question and my opinion is as follows: Your chronic cough, constant feeling to clear the throat and the operation in nose, all these are compatible with the clinical picture of upper airway cough syndrome caused by rhinosinusitis. After avoidance measures of potential environmental factors(fumes, allergens),an empiric course of a first generation antihistamine(like chlorpheniramine),combined with a decongesant (such as oxymetazoline)is typically recomended .Newer antihistamines like loratadine, desloratadine, ect may help in allergic rhinosinusitis but not other forms of rhinosinusitis.Inhaled nasal decongestants should be used no more than 5 days to avoid rhinitis medicamentosa. I hope my opinion can be helpful. Wish you good health. Kind regards Dr.Dushi
