Suggest Remedy For Diarrhea And Upper Quadrant Pain After HIDA Scan
I had a HIDA scan earlier this morning and wasn t informed of any results. Was told by the tech that they aren t allowed to give any information. Now I have to wait two weeks for a follow up with my gastro. This morning they injected me with the tracer then took pictures for an hour. They had me get up and go wait in the waiting room for 30 minutes. When I came back they took a 1 minute picture then said I was ready for the next part. They had me drink a can of nepro then took pictures for 30 minutes. After that they let me go. Now, 3 hours later, I have diarrhea and upper right quadrant pain. Am drinking apple cider vinegar and it seems to be keeping the pain from increasing for now. Does that procedure sound like a typical HIDA? Are these symptoms I m having now normal?
As per my clinical experience, the usual side effects of HIDA scan is dye hypersensitivity, rashes or else. The diarrhea and pain right upper quadrant pain is most seemingly related to gall bladder spasm and contractions , emptying extra amount of bile into small intestine.
My guidelines at present: - Drink more liquids at sessions including boiled water, lemon juice, coconut water, butter milk - Intake of pre and pro biotics with laco bacillus - Anti spasmodic medicine as Drotaverine or Dicyclomine after meals
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
