Suggest Remedy For Difficulty In Breathing And Coughing Spells

My boyfriend has been having trouble breathing,He has coughing fits and hasnt been getting sleep cause he cant lay back without feeling like his air is cut of so hes sleeps sitting up and his legs are swelling. he was born in 1972. He cant walk from the living room to the bathroom without being out of breath. he quit smoking 4 years ago. he has no fever or runny nose.His coughs are uneffective he is able to cough up very little but you can hear that he has stuff in there to cough upp. he cant get a big breath of air.

Hi,

He seems to have symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Due to narrowing of the lung airways, he is feeling difficulty in breathing. As, he is having swelling in legs as well as increased difficulty while lying down (Orthopnea), also dyspnea on exertion. These may be signs of congestive heart failure, as a result of chronic lung disease (Car- pulmonale). Hence, in my opinion, he should be investigated properly with his conditions of lungs & hearts & treatment done under guidance of his doctor.
