Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
60 yr old male, possibly need knee replacement, also bad back (disk) possible fusion surgery. I had fusion surgery back in 2001. Can a man have hot flashes? I do not have fever but with the pain in my knee and back it makes me feel sick. I go to the VA but not happy with them. Please help
Hot flashes in a man can be due to possible inflammation in the body or acute viral infection. As you just had knee replacement surgery, then, it could be related to medications they have injected or taken for the pain during and after the operation. However, to me, should check out in order to rule out post-operative infection or any other more serious health problem. Discuss this further with your caring doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
