Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Initially I developed problems with my period cycle when I had too much bleeding and had to undergo D&C. I was 50 years at that time and I am 52 now. I was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism as my TSH was 5.1 and was started on Eltroxin 25 mg. My tsh is 2.1 now but still I experience problems with irregular cycles and only if I take Primulut N I get withdrawal bleeding after 4 or 5 days. What should be done to regulate my cycle and with the tissues taken while D&C was done it was simple endometrial hyperplasia which means unopposed estrogen. How do I regulate my cycle
Taking your age into consideration, we should suspect any hormonal fluctuations to also be due to pre-menopause. Of course, there will be some amount of interference due to your hypothyroidism but once your thyroid profile is regularised, if your presentation and cycle continues to be irregular, there be a role played by menopause in this.
Regulation of your cycle may be purely with the help of hormonal replacement therapy (HRT), but I would not advise this as you need to accept menopause and the use of HRT also puts you at a risk to many other complications.
Best wishes.
