General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Irregular periods can be due many causes like severe weakness and anemia, uterine, ovarian, thyroid or any long standing illness followed by hormonal imbalance. To find out basic cause and treating it specifically would improve your periods with ovulation. This would improve fertility after unprotected sex. Please consult a gynecologist for detailed physical check up and needful investigations followed by advise for needful treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
