Suggest Remedy For Loss Of Dimple After Dental Procedure
Exactly one week ago I went to the dentist and they used a needle to numb the left side of my cheek to work on my tooth. Ever since the 5th my dimple is still not visible. I don'tthink there is swelling anymore but will i ever get my dimple back? My smile is ugly without it.
Thanks for your query . The disappearance of dimple after the dental procedure can occur due to only one reason that is swelling . Sometimes swelling is internal and not visible outside or swelling is too little to be seen .
Swelling in the cheek occur due to trauma of soft tissue during the insertion of needle in cheek . This swelling will go away within a week .
I swelling doesn't go away in a week or dimple do not start appearing then consult dentist again for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray to find out if there is any infection , trauma or any foreign body .
Doctor may extend the course antibiotics or extract if any thing is there .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
