Hi, I m writing because of the unusal sick feeling that overcame me during tonight s yoga class. I am 56 years old, 5 4 and about 165 pounds and have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression and take meds for this. Here is what happened: When I entered the yoga studio I felt hot, but the teacher commented that the air conditioning was too cold. To me it felt good. Shortly into the active phase of the hatha practice, I began to sweat. A little further into the practice, I continued to sweat but suddenly felt cold and clammy and I noticed that my skin was pale in the mirrors. At the same time I became nauseous and felt a little bit unsteady and trembly, so I went into child s pose until the symptoms eased up, and wiped the sweat from around my face, hairline and neck. I felt thirsty. But was able to resume the practice and have felt fine since in the two hours since then. I do not have any health insurance and would like to know if this could be a heart problem or something else serious, or simply a case of heat exhaustion and not enough water. In case it matters, I had gone most of the day without eating more than an apple, then a half hour before yoga, had some chips with a lot of hummus, and a cup of regular black tea.
