Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Woman 72 years old. Pain under left breast, sometimes radiating to back. Heavy ache with occasional stabbing pains. Been to A & E. Cardiac, lung and thrombosis problems ruled out. Pain Always comes on 90 minutes after retiring, last for around an hour. Fine during day other than slight ache in breast area. Not considered to be acid reflux. Could it be muscle strain? No limitation of arm movement but hurts sometimes when breathing in hard.
If the pain hurts on taking a deep breath then it is possible it is related to inflammation of the pleura lining of the lung (pleuritis), though this pain should be present during the day and night.
This is treated with anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen , naproxen or cataflam. Imaging and blood tests would indicate the probable cause.
Another possibility is nerve based pain-neuralgia. This can cause severe pain as well.
This is treated with different types of medication
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
