Suggest Remedy For Pain In Right Buttock Radiating Down The Right Leg To Calf

I was diagnosed with Nerve Sheath Schwannoma in 2008. The tumor was removed in 2009. In January 2011, I started experiencing pain in my right buttock radiating down my right leg to my calf. Whenever I cough or sneeze, it feels like a jolt of electricity is shooting down my leg. I recently had an MRI which revealed a contained mass in L1 (same spot as previously) most likely Schwannoma tumor. I'm presently waiting for an appointment with the neurologist who previously did the surgery. The neurologist is not in a hurry to see me as he stated the tumor is small (1.5 X 2.5 cm). If the tumor is so small, how come it's creating me so much pain. What can I do to reduce the pain? I power walk approx. 6 km per day but lately the pain is to severe to walk at a fast pace. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
