Suggest Remedy For Periods Problem

Back in 2008 I went to a local Women's Clinic because all through high school I was real irregular with my menstrual period and would get it for 2-3 months straight, then rest 2-3 months. I was put on birthcontrol and took it for 6 mo. Since 2008 up until Feb of this year I have been fine with a normal menstrual every month. Since Feb, I have been non-stop on my menstrual, very heavy flow and have noticed blood clots these past few days. Any advice on what it could be? Do I make an appointment with any Gynecologist?
