Suggest Remedy For Persistent Diarrhea And Fever

I had Cdiff for 4 months & just got better 3 weeks ago after 2 rounds of Dificid. Then last weekend I had a severe episode of diarrhea, very high fever, etc. that came on suddenly during the night. I had been feeling fantastic for 3 weeks so this was a shock. My dr this week ordered several different stool samples, & blood work. Today a nurse called me to say there was blood & white cells that showed up, & that my dr wanted me to start the Dificid again. Cdiff wasn t mentioned by this nurse, so I m not sure what prompted my dr to start Dificid. My dr is out of the office today & I need better clarification of ALL test results. Frustrating!!! Why would I feel so good for 3 weeks & then have an attack like that? I appreciate any advice you may have. Thank you, Connie

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent diarrhea and fever which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis and electrolyte imbalance in body. It could be due to poor immunity and increased susceptibility of getting infected. Need not to worry. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy food. You should take banana on daily basis and light food. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate body fluids. I would suggest you not to panic at all. Do tepid sponging as well. You should start treatment with combination of fluoroquinolones and ornidazole. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined and start treatment after prescription. You should get intravenous fluid administration as well. You should take oral rehydrating solution as well. You should take Ibuprofen along with proton pump inhibitors as well.
