Suggest Remedy For Prolonged Pain In Ankle At The Back Of Heel
I have bad ankle pain. I went to the doctor who took xrays and said he didn t see anything. He gave me steriods and meloxican with no help. This has been going on for 8 months and I am to the point of having to use a cane to walk, especially in the mornings. I really don t want anyone to throw more pills at me. I want to know what is wrong and how to fix it. I broke this ankle in 1976 and was told in 1980 I would have issues with it later in life. I am 56 and was very active until this issue. It does seem to hurt the most in the tendon at the back of the heel.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi,
Most likely your problem can be due to plantar fasciitis. Tendons and fasciitis of ankle and foot can be inflamed in this condition. You should also check your uric acid levels. Using heel socks containing silicon gel will be helpful. You can also apply heat and cold alternatively. This might decrease the inflammation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
