Suggest Remedy For Rise In Weight Due To Steroid Injections

I have had steroid injections in back also 2 weeks later series of 3 epideural injections for ruptured disc lots of pain no pain but rapid weight gain are there anything i can do for the weight gain?I am 78 yrs old 5 feet 7 inches ,in good health all but back, many ruptured disc.

Hi;

Due to inactivity and steroid injections which cause salt and fluid retension and increased appetite; weight gain is an expected problem for you. You must greatly decrease your salt and sugar intake for reducing edema. However; multiple ruptured discs are dangerous due to risk of nerve damage. Epidural injections are temporary solutions. Surgery is predominantly required for your situation. You must discuss this option with your neurosurgeon before your mobility further decreases.
