Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an area on the shin of my right leg between the front and inside side that has been itching for weeks. No matter what I put on it, it will not go away and now it is warm to the touch and slightly red. Itches like crazy. But it doesn t wake me up in the middle of the night. Only during the daytime.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Intense itching on shin of right leg may be due to fungal infection. Fungal infection is usually associated with intense itching and a rash. Besides fungal infection, itching can occur due to primary skin diseases. Dry skin as a result of systemic disorders or primary skin diseases can also lead to intense itching. A clinical assessment is required for diagnosis and appropriate management. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
