Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In The Knees Due To Osteoarthritis

My current MD is treating me for osteoarthritis with Meloxicam 7.5. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon who has given me cortisone shots in both knees but will only give me them every 4 months. I stand on my feet all day and am in great pain. Should I seek another opinion (maybe a rheumatologist?)
