Suggest Remedy For Severe Shoulder Pain Due To Prolapsed Disc
I have been diagnosed with a prolapse of disc between c6 and c7 which is causing a lot of compression on the nerves and consequent pain on my overall left shoulder making the pain really unbearable.I have recently been given a steroid injection in the c7 area and am also taking some pain killer medications including morphenes. My pain has still not gone away and I cannot sleep at night nor sit still till the morphines work on my body to take away the pain.Is surgery an option at this stage?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
During acute stage of pain rest to the joint / hot or cold compresses / muscle relaxant cream gentle massage (like Ibugesic gel) / Oral or injectable anti inflammatory drugs like Voveran, Ibugesic Plus. After food night pain medications can be continued as per need. Once severe pain is relieved (may take a week to 10 days) physiotherapy with pain medications or surgical intervention as per need would help. Consult a orthopedic surgeon please for personal advise.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
