Hello,
Both your husband and you are suffering from skin rashes, the rashes are itchy and red, you have avoided direct exposure to sunlight and tried creams that did not work. You are suggested to wash all your and your husbands clothes, bed sheets and bed covers with hot water frequently.
Your symptoms may be indicative of some type of allergy due to dust, mite, paint, etc., or
food allergy. Both of you can take non sedating antihistamine, one SOS when needed to reduce symptoms of allergy. Take care of your hygiene. Take bath regularly and wear soft cotton clothes. You can apply a thin layer of Ointment
Hydrocortisone on the area affected, it will help to get rid of itching.
Take
acetaminophen, one SOS when needed to reduce inflammation and hurt. Cold compression and oat meal bath will help. The rashes may be due to
dermatitis. Exposing the affected area to controlled amounts of natural or artificial light (
phototherapy) is helpful. Using oral
corticosteroids (pills) for severe disease may be recommended. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a
Dermatologist, get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
