Hello I am a concerned mother of a 4 year old who snores at night She has pretty big tonsils, however, I believe she snores due to the fact that she is not getting enough air through her nose. She is currently taking allergy medicine and I have a humidifier in her room.. what other option do her father and I have other than removing tonsils to due away with the snoring?
If I were your child treating Doctor for this case of snoring I would come up with three possibilities, these include:
First an ENT specialist should see for posterior enlarged adenoids in the child and if positive should recommend a little surgery intervention. Don*t worry most toddlers have this little problem and after the procedure everything return in the normality.
If this is not en ENT problem than the child should do a specific examination from a sleep specialist called: Polysomnography. This test is to rule out sleep disorders that present with snoring.
If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
