Overweight, Have Snoring Problem. Is There Any Treatment To Get Rid Of This?
i have a problem of snoring hi i am 45 year old i have severe problem of since five years i am over weighted due to my loud snoring my collegues regularily complant me please inform me non sugical treatment of loud snoring please help thank you
Snoring indicates a noise generated from the upper airway due to a partial block due to a number of causes one of them being obesity. Snoring may also indicate sleep apnea wherein you have obstruction to breathing resulting in excess daytime sleepiness; fatigue. So if you have any of these it indicates more than snoring.
A battery of tests including a sleep study and physical exam/ fibreoptic laryngoscopy will help identify the level of obstruction and differentiates between simple snoring and sleep apnea. The treatment choices vary- Losing a littlebit weight reduces the fatty tissue and decrease s the snoring. Avoiding alcohol can also reduce the snoring. Some nasal splints which dilates the valve of the nose; reduces the resistance and is reportedtreduce the snoring noise in some patients. A device called CPAP is currently being used for patients who do not want surgery and find their snoring an embarassment.
