Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had difficulty walking and severe stiffness and pain in the right hip since May, 2011. I had total hip replacment in Sept 2006 and have been fine since then,. I had mri and x-ray of the right hip and the sport med doctors says it looks ok. I m in physical therapy 2x s a week. The muscle that runs down the front of the thigh get really stiff and at night has shooting pains. the abductor muscle is really sore and at times I cannot life my right foot off the ground without assistance. My lower back on the left side has also become sore and stiff. The implanted component is made by Zimmer.
If MRI and X-ray of affected hip is okay then there are less chances of any abnormality with your operated part. In that case such symptoms may be due to affection of spine. I will advise you to have a x ray of your spine also to rule out any spine issues. Till then you may have a good analgesic like advil or aleeve for relief. I do agree with your doctor in having physiotherapy for this issue.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
