Suggest Remedy For Swelling In Face And Extremities Post Intake Of Amledopine
hi, I am 65 yrs old lady.I had been taking amledopine 5 mg since 1998..In 2010 ,I started having swelling on my body and my doc changed my medicine to LOTENSYL 5 mg...then in 2013 my doc advised me to increase my dosage to 10 mg.because of certain aggravations in my BP...in may 2015 i had to take amledopine 10 mg as lotensyl was not available.when i got my lotensyl consignment and i switched back to it ,i started experiencing swelling on my face and extremities ..i take lotensyl 10 mg but i am still experiencing swelling n my face and extremities..my BP stays at 140/85 ..please advice.
Amlodipine can cause swelling of feet or gums but swelling of face is uncommon while Lotensyl(Lercanidipine) does not cause any swelling. It seems the swelling of face and legs ; in your case may be due to disease ..Uncontrolled Hypertension and not due to drug as you presume. I advise workup for Oedema like Kidney function,Liver function 2-D Echo for heart and Thyroid Function to know the cause of swelling. Meanwhile a drug like Telmesartan or Periendopril with Chlorthelidone will control the BP and swelling both.
